Tongna, 14 May 2018: Parish Feast Celebrated

The Month of May is a joyful month that brings the parishners together to the parish every year. The church at Tongna comes alive during the Month of May, due to the celebration of the parish feast of St. Dominic Savio and the Marian procession.

On the 12th and 13th of May, there was the celebration of the Parish Feast. The principal patron of the parish is St. Dominic Savio. The feast of St. Dominic Savio is normally celebrated on the 6th of May but for convenience we had the celebration on 12th and 13th of May.

On 12th there was the Marian procession which was attended by a large number of the parishners. They beautifully decorated float and took out the procession through the Guttibari Village. All along the procession the faithful sang Marian Hymns and prayed the holy Rosary. At the conclusion of the procession an inspiring Marian talk was given by Fr. Hilarius SDB. In his talk Fr. Hilarious emphasised that as we Celebrate every year this great feast, at least one of her qualities like spirit of hardwork should be practiced.

Mary after listening to the Angel did not sit down thanking God for the great revelation but she walked the hard way, cooperating in the plan of God. She walked to greet Elizabeth and also brought forth the child Jesus.

On 13th May we had a solemn Eucharist presided over by Rt. Rev. Joseph Aind Sdb, Bshop of Dibrugarh. It was attended by a large number of the faithful.
