Location
Amguri is115 km west of
Dibrugarh in the civil district of Sivasagar. The parish campus is situated on
the Station Road, along the Changmaigaon village, within the Amguri municipal
area.
History
Fr. Leo Tirkey sdb started
looking after the center under Jorhat parish, from 19th December
1983. He remained at Tuli, Nagaland, to
cater to the needs of this mission. On 8th January 1984 Mr. Albert
Kujur of Amgoorie TE was baptized. This was the first baptism by Fr. Leo in this
center. On 12th January 1984, 28 bighas of land, belonging to 9
different people, was being negotiated for the Don Bosco School campus. The
process was completed towards the end of the year and Fr. Leo started residing
there.
The center was officially
erected as a parish on the 25th August 1996 and Fr. Kuriakose
Palathinkal sdb was the first parish priest. Mr. Michael Ekka is the touring
Catechist. Presently the parish has 600 Catholics spread over in 8 Tea Estates.

Don Bosco High School
The center has an English medium High School and its present strength is about 600 boys and girls. The School was started in 1985. Some time ago there was a boarding for boys, but later it was closed.
