MARIANI PARISH - 1991

Location

Mariani is situated 158 km south west of Dibrugarh in the civil district of Jorhat. The nearest town is Jorhat and the nearest railway station is Mariani.

History of the parish

Mariani is the daughter parish of Jorhat, separated in the year 1991. Rev. Fr. Francis Lasrado was its first parish priest. The parish has about 3000 Catholics spread over in 13 substations, mostly tea gardens. It has an English medium high school. Holy Cross sisters are helping in the school and in the parish. The sisters also run a boarding for girls
