History
When Fr. Joy Pallikunnel was the PP of Naharkatia, he negotiated a plot of land for the Bimlapur parish. For Bimlapur was a big chunk of Naharkatia parish. Bishop Thomas Menamparampil appointed Fr. Lazar Kakkassery as the first Parish Priest of Bimlapur in 1988. Most of its substations were taken from Naharkatia though some were taken from Sonari parish. As there are several schools nearby, the parish has no school of its own. Evangelization and developmental activities are the main occupation of the priests.
The parish has 4500 Catholics spread over in 18 substations
